Can I pay into my pension through my limited company?

As a company director, can I pay into my pension through my business?

Written by Elis

Yes. If you’re a company director, your limited company can pay directly into your Penfold pension.

Before you make a contribution

First, we need to link your limited company to your Penfold account.

Contact our Customer Support team and send us:

  • Your company name

  • Your Companies House number

Once your company is linked, you can make contributions from your company bank account.

Make sure you pay from your company bank account, not your personal account. This helps us identify the payment as a company contribution and allocate it correctly.

How are company contributions taxed?

Payments from your limited company are treated as business/employer pension contributions.

They may count as a business expense for corporation tax, depending on HMRC rules. This could reduce your company’s taxable profits and corporation tax bill.

We will not add the usual 25% tax relief that may apply to personal pension contributions. This is because the contribution comes from your company, rather than you personally.

Instead, your company may receive a tax benefit through the tax treatment of employer pension contributions.
