The time it takes depends on your new provider and how they request the transfer.
Origo transfers are usually completed within a few weeks, but can take up to two months
Manual transfers can take three months or more, depending on the provider
Some transfers can take longer if:
You’ve recently made a contribution. We’ll need to wait for any outstanding contributions and tax relief to reach your pension before we can transfer it
We need more information from your new provider. We may need to carry out additional due diligence checks before completing the transfer, which depends on how quickly the receiving provider responds.
We need to complete regulatory checks. These help protect your pension from scams and may add time to the transfer
In more complex cases, a transfer can take up to six months.
If you need your transfer completed by a specific date, we recommend starting the process as early as possible.
